While staying in the hills of Tuscany, I enjoyed painting al fresco some of the beautiful views I came across.
It was incredibly hot, so I needed to add in more linseed oil to keep the oil paint fluid. I wanted to capture the stunning warm light that floods the landscape in the early evening.
I had recently been studying the work of Castelli and felt inspired by his work. I was staying with a friend and wanted to paint for her a view from her house, which she was thrilled to receive at the end of our stay. I totally fell in love with the Italian landscape and could have stayed there painting forever!
