I have been teaching art to children at the local primary school. I wanted to show them more than making things out of loo roll and to show them different mediums and artists to inspire them. So far we have learnt to print watercolour clouds using masking fluid. When painted onto the white areas it can have a wash of blue over the top. After leaving to dry it can then be rubbed off to reveal the fluffy cloud. The children really enjoyed pulling the glue off. They thought it was “magic.”
Last week we sketched trees outside. The children learnt how to draw a tree in pastels and collected blossom and different types of leaves to stick on!This week we’ve been blowing paint with straws and flicking paint just like Jackson Pollock. It got really messy! The kids LOVED it!!
We then did a self-portrait. It was so lovely to see all the different approaches and amazing likenesses the children got. I taught them all the proportions of the face, which they understood, while really capturing their different characters.
